Hungarian govt guarantees 24/7 health care for Ukrainian refugees
The Hungarian government is guaranteeing access to health care around the clock for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine, the human resources ministry told MTI on Friday.
Mobile teams have been sent to registration points along the Ukrainian border to provide medical care, screening, coronavirus tests and, if need be, hospital care for those arriving from Ukraine.
To date nearly 100 refugees have required hospital care, mostly out-patient services. At present 14 refugees are in hospital, including nine children.
All refugees who are not vaccinated against Covid, or wish to be accommodated in a refugee centre, are tested for coronavirus and offered the jab. Those infected are quarantined or, in more serious cases, taken to hospital.
The health workers delegated by hospitals and working in 12-hour shifts are being assisted by charity organisations, the ministry said.
